FAQ You may have never toured before, so you will be a little apprehensive about what to expect. We have therefore added some of the most Frequently Asked Questions. What do we get for our money? We consider that our tours are unique. We will take you to some of the most scenic places in the UK travelling on little used roads. The tour routes have been carefully plotted so that you can enjoy the scenery, the bikes and the overall experience. We travel on ‘A’and 'B' roads, there are plenty of photo opportunities and refreshment stops. Most of our trips include accommodation in a B&B with all meals, experienced tour guide, secure bike parking. I have never been on tour before - will I hold everybody up? No, this is a tour, not a race - whenever there is a group of riders together, you get a wide range of experience and riding abilities. We are quite used to this, and you will never be asked to ride beyond your capabilities. we use the drop off system see here What difference is there between Guided and Escorted Tours? With Guided Tours there are no maps to read, or route directions to follow - you will be led by an experienced guide whose local knowledge will ensure that you get to see all the right places and ride some great roads. We use a simple drop off system, which allows you to ride at your own speed. These tours are usually in the UK and over a weekend, offering an ideal opportunity to try touring for the first time. Escorted Tours mean that although the guide will be with you, you are responsible for doing your own navigation. We provide a Tour Pack which will include the relevant maps, suggested route directions and information for you to find your destination. This system suits many people, as it allows them to ride at their own pace and style, either alone or in small groups. However, if it is your first time abroad, you may prefer to ride with the guide, who will act as your escort throughout the tour. How many people go on tour? This will vary depending on the tour, but as a general rule, up to 10 bikes is a comfortable number for a tour group How far do we ride each day? Distances vary every day, and can be as little as 100 miles to over 300 miles. We try to keep daily distances realistic whilst making reasonable progress. However, there should always be time to stop to visit attractions, have leisurely lunch, or just a “brew”. What do we expect from you? With all these types of holidays there is an element of risk. We obviously want everyone to be as safe as possible, therefore, we do insist on a few common sense rules. These include wearing of crash helmets, gloves and full length trousers whilst riding. Riding in just flip flops, T Shirt and shorts is not allowed. We will give you a full briefing on other safety issues on the morning before the tour begins. What happens on ‘rest’ days? Once at a location, your time is your own, so please feel free to do as you wish. Within your Tour Pack will be information on local attractions, or your guide will be able to suggest some good routes. There will also be a number of guided tours, which you are welcome to join. What about personal insurance and bike breakdown cover? We recommend that everyone who comes on our tours has some form of breakdown cover. Bikes do break down and punctures do happen. We will do whatever we can to keep you going but sometimes recovery is necessary. Usually the problems can be sorted out relatively quickly and you can continue with the tour. Personal insurance which cover biking injuries and medical costs is recommended but we do not insist on it. How do we book a tour? Once you have made your choice, we suggest you ring us to ensure that places are still available then use the online booking system, we will hold a place for you for 5 days. You should then complete a Booking Form (see website) and forward your deposit, you will be then sent a Booking Confirmation and Invoice for the tour balance. What happens next? Once we receive the balance for your tour, we will issue a receipt, together with any relevant information. A full Tour Information Pack will then be sent 2-4 weeks before departure – however, please feel free to contact us at any time with any questions you may have. Do you do bike hire? No, sorry Do any women come on your tours? Yes - we have some regular women riders who come on many of our tours - sometimes with friends or partners, and sometimes on their own. We pride ourselves on the fact that women feel comfortable to come on our tours. How much money should I take? Most tours includes en-suite accommodation, breakfast, and some evening meals are included leaving you with only lunch, petrol and drinks to budget for. We also give you a rough estimate of the mileage you can expect to cover, which should allow you to estimate your total spend on fuel.
